PlantTriage^® Batch Monitoring

PlantTriage monitors both batch and continuous processes. On this page, learn more about PlantTriage's batch capabilities.

You will see that PlantTriage is capable of dealing with many of the unique process and control issues for batch systems. PlantTriage has been applied successfully to many complex batch operations, including pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals, and pulping operations.

Batch-Driven Assessments

PlantTriage understands your process. Through simple configuration, PlantTriage can be aware of the batch cycle start/stop times in your facility. PlantTriage can gather this information from your DCS, PLC, or Batch Management software.

Once PlantTriage is aware of your batch cycle, it starts tracking batch performance. You can compare between batches, follow trends over time, and compare results to a standard or "Golden Batch".

Product Code Tracking

If you produce more than one product in your batch system, PlantTriage can track system performance by product codes. You'll finally be able to understand performance differences between products.

Track Cleaning Cycles

If your batch system performs CIP or SIP (Clean-in-Place or Steam-in-Place) operations, you can also see how the process performs differently during these operations.

One way to use this information is to establish different tuning parameters for each phase of the process operation. The dynamics of temperature control during SIP, for example, is very different than the dynamics of temperature control during processing steps.

Using batch cycle information combined with PlantTriage's powerful Active Model Capture Technology, you can automatically capture models of the system dynamic response during production, CIP, and SIP phases.

With this information, you can quickly determine the controller settings for each phase of operation.

Focus on Meaningful Information

Only certain parts of the batch cycle should be evaluated for control performance. For example, there is no point in tracking temperature control performance while temperature is not being controlled!

By connecting to your batch management system or other batch logic, PlantTriage can determine when it should be evaluating, and when it should wait.

Customized Logic

You have complete flexibility with PlantTriage. Using the Equation Builder, you can create customized logic to monitor batch phases. You can even create your own proprietary performance assessments.
