#SE-100-3, Duration: 3 days
Objectives:
Process control technology evolves rapidly. This seminar
will allow you to review traditional control techniques and to explore new
optimization methods. As a result, you will be able to evaluate which of the
techniques will help you increase your plant's productivity.
Who Should Attend:
Anyone concerned with the performance of processes or
control loops. Instrumentation technicians, and supervisors, production
managers, process, electrical and project engineers. Management can also
appreciate the importance of loop tuning and the new tools available to
achieve objectives of today and meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Instructors
Michel Ruel is a registered professional engineer,
university lecturer, author of several publications and books on
instrumentation and control. Michel has twenty-two years of plant experience
including these companies: Monsanto Chemicals, Domtar Paper, Dow Corning and
Shell Oil. He is experienced in solving unusual process control problems and
also a pioneer in the implementation of fuzzy logic in process control.
Michel has presented process control lectures to over 3000 engineers and
technicians in four countries. Michel translates his experience in a very
user-friendly presentation and teaching style.

What Students Say:
"The best compilation of basic control theory I have ever seen,"
Systems & Controls Specialist, Weldwood of Canada (IP)
"I learned more about controls in 3 days than I
did in 4 months in a Process Control class," Process Engineer,
Kanzaki Specialty Papers
"A must for process instrument technicians who
work with and tune loops," Instrument Tech, Pharmacia
Upjohn
"This course is a minimum requirement for anyone who has PID loops to
tune and a mill to run more efficiently. I didn't realize how much
there was to know," Process Engineer, Nucor Steel
"I will have the opportunity to take some key skills and apply them directly to
my work place," Power and Utilities Engineer I & C, Parke Davis Pharmaceutical
"...will pay for itself many times over..." Engineer, Bethlehem Steel
"I have taken control theory courses in school,
however, the practical application taught in this course far exceeded
what I had learned in the previous courses," Engineer,
Bethlehem Steel
"This is the most valuable class I have ever
taken related to my position. Thank you for your insights and
experiences," Instrumentation Technician, Pharmacia &
Upjohn
"
Relationship between DT, Ti, and Td very valuable in
assessing if your tuning constants are 'reasonable' for the
process under consideration! VERY valuable! '3-5
rule' almost equally valuable! Outstanding course and instructors,
superbly done and well worth my time!
* One of the best courses I've taken in Years!
* ExperTune (Advanced Version) made me feel like a kid on Christmas morning!"
Process control Consultant, Metso Automation
"I thought the course was great. I finally had someone teach and tell me
what PID is and how to actually use the information,"
Control Engineer, GES Technology Inc.
"The course material was excellently laid out, and presented.
The two instructors were extremely informative with real world
applications, with vast industrial experience," Instrument
Technician, Irving Paper
"Instructor was fantastic! Overall the course was great. I
really understand the interaction of PID control now,"
Control Systems Engineer, Atofina Petrochemicals
"Very good course. Outstanding instructor,"
Process Control/Control Systems Supervisor, Atofina Petrochemicals
"The knowledge gained is immediately usable and I would
recommend this course to anyone involved in process engineering and
technical process support," DCS Technician/Lead I&C
Technician, Calpine Corporation - Magic Valley
"We learned not only the theoretical but also the correct
applications of process control," Instrument Engineer,
Lubrizol Corp
"This was an excellent class. Hank's real world knowledge helped
in answering our individual questions," Test Engineer,
Lubrizol Corp
"Very practical, so it is easy to use this content in our work,"
DCS Engineer, Escondida, Chile
